Michael Proothi, DMD, MD


Dr. Michael Proothi joined the NYCOMS practice in the summer of 2010. Since July of 2004 Dr. Proothi has participated in the Oral and Maxillofacial surgery residency training program at Long Island Jewish Medical center which is where the NYCOMS team initially had the pleasure of working with him. In 2004, Dr. Proothi graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Later in 2007, he graduated from Stony Brook University School of Medicine where he also completed his General Surgery Internship, During his internship, Dr. Proothi was honored as surgical resident of the year in 2008. More recently, Dr. Proothi wrote an article with Dr. Drew and Dr Sachs on Why Patients Seek Corrective Jaw Surgery. It was published in the July 2010 edition of the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Proothi is married and has two sons. He is an avid tennis player.
